Energy efficient windows and doors:

According to the U.S. Department of Energy, leaky and inefficient windows, skylights and doors account for up to 25 percent of the average household's energy bills. Some sources estimate as high as 40 percent. A lot depends on where you live:
Cold climates lose energy in the form of heat
Hot climates lose energy in the form of cooling
The colder or hotter the climate, the greater your heating or cooling costs and the greater potential you have to save money on energy costs. Nearly everyone can benefit by replacing leaky, inefficient windows with modern energy-efficient windows. Depending on your location, you can cut energy costs by as much as 15 percent.

Attic efficient

Ventilation of the home attic is important for two reasons. During the summer, excess heat that builds up in the attic during the day results in high energy costs for cooling. Also, moisture produced within the home may move into the attic if ceiling vapor barriers are not used. If this moisture is not exhausted from the attic it can condense and cause insulation and construction materials to deteriorate. Thus, temperature and moisture control are the major reasons for providing attic ventilation.

Ventilation Methods :

Natural Ventilation
Natural ventilation caused by a chimney effect by continuous ridge vents. This method takes advantage of two principles. First, as air is heated it becomes less dense and rises. Second wind movement over and around a home creates areas of high and low pressure.

Power Ventilation
Exhaust attic fan through the roof or in the gable. Sufficient outlets must be installed in the attic to exhaust the air without creating high pressures against which the fan must operate.

Radiant barrier reflects
A radiant barrier reflects radiant heat energy instead of trying to absorb it. What does this mean in your home or business? In the summer, up to 93% of heat gain is radiant. ¬†Aluminum radiant barrier is unaffected by humidity and will continue to perform at a consistent level no matter how humid it may be.
